Good afternoon everyone....I have a question about my Canon 10D LCD Monitor. Shot a kids swim team --- I swear camera never left my hand! When I got home I realized there was something on my LCD Monitor. Have tried gently rubbing with soft cloth, it is still there. The manual says to contact a Canon Rep. if can't clean.....Anyone have any suggestions?

Get a microfiber cleaning cloth. It removes oil smudges, dust, and dirt. You can buy them at any photo store or eyeglass shop.
(what did you get on it anyways?)

Due to the way that I view through the viewfinder, I am always pressing my big, sweaty nose onto the LCD screen cover. So, it looks pretty messy quickly. I've simply learned to keep wiping it with a very soft, very clean, cloth. I never use any liquids or cleaners on it.

Unfortunately doesn't have the protection of rigid plastic as the Nikon D 100, I have hit him then a transparent sticker the LCD enough protected is, the bad thing is that gets lost some clarity to revise the taken picture.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Carnagex2000 I did take your advice and try a Micro cloth....worked well for most of the "gunk"...however there is a "hard substance" I can't get off.
Eolo: Funny you should mention "covers" for the LCD. I did buy PDA Overlay screen to put on the LCD and hadn't tried it before this Swimteam shoot! I have to cut it to fit couldnl't find any the right size. How often do you have to replace them?
Canon will probably make a "cover" next model....lol

I'm not sure what part of the world you are in, but there is a wonderful product, not originally designed of course for digital camera LCD's, but rather to avoid rock chipping in autos and painted surfaces. It is made by the manufactureing giant 3M over here in the U.S. It goes under the trade name of ClearBra. (www.clearbra.com) in case you are interested. I just went over to an installing dealer (found in many major towns and cities) and got a sample, which was enough to do probably a dozen LCD windows. It's unique characteristics are that it is absolutely transparent. I have NOT found ANY other product for PDA's or anything that do not in some way effect the view. This does NOT. Heck it's cheap (free) and if you can find a dealer near you I'd recommend slapping on a piece and cut it to size. You'll be free of scratches, marks and anything for that matter. It comes off carefully as it applies with a very light level of adhesive which is on the back as you peel off the back. Check this out.......

I bought and used a plastic cover for the lcd screen and found dust was getting between the screen and the lcd cover....driving me nuts. I discovered that replacement lcd screens are only $10 from Canon. The old screen can be removed with a suction cup and the new one pressed into place. I no longer worry about scratching the lcd screen as it is easily and cheaply replaced
