Trouble with grainin low light??

Please help. I am shooting in a studio setting but wanting the effect of alot of shadow with a 20 degree spot light. I shoot with a tamron 28-75 f2.8 lens. my shots look better with bright lighting. I guess my question why are the photos no sharp. the majority of the photos posted in low light are sharp. Are they touched in PHotoshop??

what are your settings, and what about your light source? please post a pic.

So are you having noise, or sharpness issues? Shoot at lower iso if noise.
A picture could really help. Depends what lighting you use, etc...
