I shot this one in front of the Milwaukee Mueseum of art. I thought it was nice how the curve of the building matched the curve of the front of the train.

You're right, it matches up pretty well. To me, the building seems a little too busy and detracts from the train though. Perhaps crop out some of the building? The building looks like it would be a good subject for some additional shots as well.

Thank you, I'll have to give this a try. If you check my where that image came from you'll find there's many more pictures of the museum.

I took a quick look...what a wonderful piece of architecture. I took a quick look around (didn't have a lot of time)... I did notice your lightning pics. These are really good...are they real (they don't look at all like PS generated lightning which has been shown now and again)? If they are, I know that there have been some threads on one or two boards regarding lightning and how to photograph it. I (and I am sure others) would like to hear about these. Perhaps you could post them in a separate thread.

Thanks for taking the time to look around. I'm definately proud of the lightning and it was a tremendous amount of fun to shoot. I think you'll find the info your looking for here.

Let me know if you need anything else. Shooting the pictures isn't the hard part, it's finding a perfect storm to shoot. One moving on the right path with the lightning popping just in front of it where you can set up your equipment out of harms way and not have any rain while shooting all at night so you can get the correct exposure is the difficult part. I'd been trying to catch a good storm for some time until I got that one and have yet to catch a good one since.

just me having a peep and giving a little moi opinion
lovely design
I thought it was a strange birds wing when the post was opening slowly.
picture needs resizing a bit
I cropped your shot
as the unevenly photographed steps leading up to the train were not good looking at all.
distracted my eyes.
at first I was going to leave part of them in
but then I cropped them out completely
and I resized the picture to 640x480
and then sharpened
I think its beautiful and its your beautiful shot ..
:)
and so be it.
best wishes

Thank you Marie. When I look at the photo my eyes tend to stay more toward the top. But your comment brought them to the bottom and now I notice the ugly steps and distracting railing below. I'll try your suggestions and post them tomorrow.

Marie, here's a modified version of my photo taking your suggestions into account. In editing I also noticed the legs of someone standing behind the train which I removed as well as the wood by the rails. I toyed with removing the man from inside the train as I didn't figure I would be capable of doing it well enough but it seems to have turned out fairly well.
I didn't apply any sharpening as I'm quiet inexperienced with it and am unsure of what to look for at this time or how to apply it. Maybe that'll have to be my next set of experiments. Anyway, here's the modified image I promised earlier.

I looked at your lightning shots and they truly are remarkable. I noticed that the "3 bolts" shot has a bolt on the left that mirrors itself all the way down. That is really spectacular. I didn't know it did that! We hardly ever get lightning here...maybe once every 5 years! Great shots in your gallery!

When I first saw it, I said great photo but the passenger distracted me. Then I came across the one you edited - WOW! Great job.
