thank you for posting this. Love shots from this place, I cannot wait to visit it. There just seems to be something about the light that is magical.

Beautiful place, beautiful shot...would love to visit and get photo's also. Only little thing I noticed is the sign on the tree. The sign looks so alien in such a natural setting.

Beautiful work, Pete, although I suspect you don't consider it work.

Really nice, can you share your post workflow on this image. Do you use AEB? Then HDR? anyways very nice work. You should publish a book, you could call it "through my eyes"

thanks everyone.

kprince, yup, 2 triple AEB exposures, each merged to HDR, then tone mapped, then stitched together into pano. so, Stan, there is a certain amount of work to produce the final image. ;) Hopefully the HDR/stitching software will improve and speed up the process. or HDR cameras will come out.

one of my main objectives when I was at Yosemite on this trip was to thoroughly test the HDR process, and try to basically utilize as much of the natural dynamic range as possible, with the aim of producing a more realistic representation of the scene than single shot images can achieve.

Trish, I'm not sure what sign you're refering to?

Gorgeous, Pete. One can never see too many shots from Yosemite. Especially when they are as beautiful as yours.

Trish, I'm not sure what sign you're refering to?

Maybe referring to what looks to me like a person over on the left side?

Pete you have a great eye and you produce great images.
I think your objective of getting the HDR process down is a success.
Where were you to get that perspective of the falls and the river together. You were near Curry Village right? Beautiful image!

That waterwall in the back really grabs my attention. No infrared shot? :(

Pete,

As ever wonderful picture of this wonderful place.

It must be a geting old and more grumpy thing for me but have you noticed that regardles of how remote or peaceful a place you are in, you can not escape from con trails...

Julio, it was taken from just down behind Sentinel Bridge actually. there's another wooden bridge further down the river, that's were we where headed.

Michaelmjc, no infrared shot of that particular scene.

Neil, this was the first time I've been at Yosemite that I really noticed all the contrails, and I even overheard a fews others talking about it. Someone even mentioned how the park rangers are aware of it and are trying to get the airlines to circumvent the park altogether, although I doubt they'd co-operate.

Pete, absolutely beautiful, as always. Its such a pleasure to view your work, on two levels: the first being pure visual pleasure, and second, a deeper appreciation of photography and the skills it take to produce such great shots.

OK Pete. I know the bridge. I have taken lots of pictures from that bridge. Yours is a real different perspective on the scene. It must be the stitched photos that threw me off. Again great shot(s)!
