must shoot opportunities between Connecticut & Montana?

Next week I am leaving on a motorcycle trip from CT to MT. My 'rough' route is CT to Buffalo, NY - over the great lakes to the UP of Michigan then west thru Wisc, Minn, North Dakota & into Montana. Final (planned) destination is Glacier National Park. This is going to be a photography expedition & I am packing several lenses with my 10D. Can anyone suggest "must see / shoot" spots along this route? I am going to return in a more southerly route (not decided yet).
Any & all suggestions will be appreciated!

If you are the High Line through Montana, Highway 2, then be sure to stop at the Bear Paw Battlefield, near Chinook, Montana. It is where Chief Joseph surrendered to General Miles in 1877. It used to be a very lonely and almost mystical place. Not sure what it is like now that the NPS has taken over. I'll post one of my shots from there later.

The High Line is an interesting drive. Eastern Montana can look stark and foreboding but it is really fabulous country. The Missouri River Breaks are another awesome site.

Yes that is the route I am planning to tgake (even tho AAA didn't get it right in the trip-tik lol).

There are some great old cemeteries, mission schools and train stations along the Hi-Line. I like the southern route through Glacier being as I am not overly fond of being closed in by trees. Lots of gorgeous views, train trestles over creek with the Rockies in the background, Isaak Walton Inn, where one can stay in a restored caboose! There is a cool Native American museum in Browning. You should see some wheat harvesting too. There are also some neat badlands outside of Havre.

I love the Hi-Line!

If you go through southeastern Montana, there is the Big Horn battlefield where Custer met his match, Miles City, the badlands at Glendive - resting place of many a dinosaur and odd rock formations. I will be in Havre in the second week of September - on the Hi-Line of course.
