This shot is incredible, I can't get over the 3D look of the buildings. Is this a HDR shot? I'm not sure if its the lens, your PP or if its because your using FF.

Anyways, beautiful shot.

It clearly is an HDR shot, and he has also aligned the verticals, which would be inclined as the lens was tilted downwards slightly. Excellent shot, and effective PP, not overdone.

They all play a role, but shooting full-frame is the predominant factor with respect to attaining the three-dimensional look.

It's actually a result of the bus moving forward a little while I was rifling off the three exposures.

Elfie, nice job on those capturing the serenity of the prairies - the bottom photo is more poignant to that effect where the road leads to the horizon. Very nice. Are those straight out the camera?

What settings did you use (metering, aperture, exposure, focus point, etc)?

It was taken in RAW.

Little contribution from me with this wonderful lens... Taken last year in the fall with my 30D and hand-held a polarizer for this pic. Just liked the colours of the trees around and took a quick snap. Not much processing here either, just a little sharpening and a resize. Will be fun to use this lens on my new 5D this fall.

I just received my 17-40, but I bought it to use with my 5DII which is still on back order. I like the range of my 10-22 on my 50D better than the 17-40. I'll just have to wait for my 5DII.

Had the 17-55 which was awesome on my 30d but my new 17-40 on my 5d just has a "pop" that the former didn't. Don't get me wrong. the 17-55 was razor sharp and really shined for portraits when you don't want to swap it out for a prime but for landscapes the L comes out on top.

The sun is pounding in on the white and gold paint. I shot in raw so I can adjust and properly expose the writing but then the rest of the image goes dark. I will play with the local adjustments to balance it out.

Thanks. Each shot consists of three exposures tonemapped in Photomatix. I tweak saturation and contrast levels during the tonemapping process.
