I've spent a bit of time with this lens today. After various test shots I didn't feel it was producing sharp enough images so I microadjusted it to my 1Div (it needed +10). The results look a lot better viewed larger, however:

Well I enjoy driving it as well as photographing it if that's what you mean :) One of the reasons I bought the 17-40 was for car photography, some of the excellent shots on here show how useful the lens is for that. It'll definitely be in my bag when I get the chance to go to the next motor show.

Yes, my shots on the previous page. Taken with 1D mk IV which is a 1.3 crop. Minor processing only, no HDR etc. The Caterham shots are more representative of the lens capabilities, the 1st test shot of the Skoda was before I microadjusted it.

I took mine out to the fair in my city on friday evening. The fair in Tilburg ("Tilburgse Kermis") is the biggest one in europe, but also very busy so putting down a tripod is tricky.
Extremely rainy night and I was terrified that water would get inside since my lens was "naked". Fortunately the rain died down around 2 hours in and I was able to pull off a few decent shots.

All shot on a 5D @ ISO 50.

Thanks. Yeah, CPL, morning light, no wind and some Lightroom work. I shot several dozen from this spot and plan to redo the processing for a poster-sized print for the family room.

The sharpness on some of these pictures is AMAZING!! Not sure what I'm not doing, but my picutures do not seem to have the same sharpness. Most recently I've been tracking my home being build so all of my shots have been hand-held...perhaps I'm not quite as steady as I thought?

Anyway, I'm a newbie to this lens and so far and LOVING it!
