I have been going crazy trying to get insurance that will cover my camera and equipment when travelling to the Philippines. I started to look at travel insurance but looks like most have a limit of $3,000 and the small print says only $1,000 for like items. When I asked the agent they advised photography equipment would be considered one item (even though I have different lens, flash etc.).

Just when I was getting frustrated I saw an insurance agent I know from before and mentioned to him. Ends up they could easily modify the insurance and now I have $6,000 in insurance for my equipment without the "like item" conditons as well as medical evacuation, coverage if my flight is cancelled etc. etc. for $USD125.00 which covers me worldwide for 1-month. I guess he was saying is a lot of times if you ask to see the manager, they can be flexible with these policies. So the next time you are travelling and want some travel insurance that will cover not only you, but your equipment, if you don't like what the agent is saying, ask to see the manager. Also, read the small print because the original agent said I was covered for $5,000 in theft, then I read the small print and they specifically used a camera and accessories as an example of like items that would only be covered for $1,000.

Now I am all set for my travel next week to the Philippines with some peace of mind.
