First one is not cropped, had 68mm tubes on, the insect was about 3-4mm long, The 2nd one is to show the scale of the insect with some rain drops. the next 3 are cropped. C and C most welcome, thanks for viewing.:):):)

Some lovely shots there Hidden Forms. I like them all but I particularly like the second shot with the droplets on the leaf too. I don't know the species but it's certainly a fine looking fly! The eyes are very interesting. :)

Those racing stripes look painted on! I dont think we have such a fly in the UK and NZ has lots of unique wildlife. I would guess its of the Muscidae family (House flies & their relatives) from the body shape. Certainly distinctive.

Very nice, The water drops on the leaf look pretty neat as well. I think the last one is the best.

Very nice, I like them, well lit and sharp.

Just out of interest, how did you light them, or is this natural light?

Thank you cmpowell for your comments, I used a flash with a diffuser (the canon 580EX) on a homemade flash bracket so the flash is in front of the lens, camera setting ISO100, 1/200sec, F13
