This is a shot of a women basketball player who was watching a game waiting for the next game. I had my 70-200 on and was testing my white balance getting ready to shoot the game. I played a little in CS2 and here is the result.

this is a really nice shot. My preference is the BW as I think it has more impact.

I like the composition but not the framing. I am not a fan of 1600 iso either. Nice mood though.

Very nice and I particularly like the b/w!

Whereas I prefer the colour shot ... The framing is okay and suits the colour version as it gives mild impression of brushstrokes on canvas.

Ordinarly I never would have shot this at 1600. I would have proably shot it at 100 . I was amazed at how clean the shot came out. She was totaly unaware that I took the photo. I was in the process of checking my settings ant turned around ant there she waw with the towel on her head. I just pointed a and took the shot because I just saw something and wanted to capture it that moment. I was afraid that if I started to re adjust my settings I would lose the shot. Thsnk you all for your comments.

Wonderful image. I've gotten a few at ISO 1600 while shooting in a gym myself, but nothing this good.

There is a little something that resembles brush strokes in both pictures. It's very faint, but I was wondering if that was digitally enhanced to be that way or did you just use the camera to achieve that affect?

I used the blur and smudge tool in the background and used gausian and the smart blur tool in CS2 to get the effect that I wanted. I ten used the unshapen mask to brinback the outlins of the photo.. CS2 possibilities ane endless. If you start using layers it gets extreemely complex

Dan, I was going to ask why you used 1600 in my first post but you've answered the question. I am amazed at how sharp the image is. I've yet to use anything near 1600 and tend to shoot all my stuff at 100 with the aid of a sturdy tripod (mainly landscapes at this stage). I always thought that at that speed your quality is very much compromised. thanks for sharing

Bob you can use 400 outside and get some a real nice images I can go as low as 50 with the 1D and or 3200. There is not a lot of differnce in 100-200r even 400 ISO. Don't be afraid to experiment.
