My first try at a studio style photograph. I used the bathroom of all places because of the sunlight was diffused coming through the frosted window. I know I may have broken a rule or two of comp but throw your critique at me anyway.
All that was done was a crop, auto colour and usm 40/10/1

Colin...
I opened your pic and my initial reaction was "hey, that's pretty cool!" Then I started looking closely at things such as the cutoff shoe on the right, composition, etc. And then I thought "hey, that's pretty cool!" I guess what I am saying, is that for all the technical "faults" it may (or may not) have, I kept coming back to my original reaction... that I like this.
I wish I could explain why I like it, but I really can't. I just do. Perhaps its just the subject...or maybe the lighting (which I like)...or maybe just the pastel colors. Hope that helps.

Thanks much Chuck. The shoe on the right isn't cut off, you just have to scroll your screen. :)

Hi Colin,
I like it, them... one of those pictures that I couldn't really tell you why of the top of my head... so maybe my head has been replaced by something more visceral.
Since you'd like a critique, I would probably like to see the pool of shoes centered vertically -- same amount of black top and bottom.
On a very slight note, the shoes are pretty connected but this effect could be enhanced by moving the 1 o'clock and 6 o'clock shoe so they touch the shoes where the small gaps are.
Very nice.

I really like this Colin, the composition is excellent. The lighting is tremendous - very even and diffused.
Excellent.

An Interesting shot Colin, I really like the lighting esp considering that some of the shoes could have reflected lots of it back if the exposure wasnt spot on. Do you mind sharing the EXIF info?

Thanks people. I know it isn't a real catchy subject but baby booties are, well, kinda cute. :)

I like this shot a lot! The subtle colours and lighting are just perfect. The only thing I would change is the cropping. Get rid of all the excess black around the booties. You end up with a nice long horizontal.
