Well I just put in a week with the new canon 24-70 L and sent it back to canon CPS. This is a great program for professionals you can try any canon gear that you want and just send it back in 14 days. Well I can say I cannot tell the difference so I am not gona upgrade. For any one who was thinking of upgrading do not it is not worth the money. I some respects the 28-70 L is a bit sharper than the new 24-70 L this is just my findings
So save some green $$ and buy an other lens. Best of luck.

Indeed that 28-70 2.8L is one hard lens to beat. I would only recommend one make the change to the 24-70 2.8L if they are extrememly picky or require that extra 4mm at the wide end. When I owned that 28-70 2.8L it was the "go to" lens 80% of time I was working. I considered it my main wedding lens. You're right....it is darn sharp, contrasty and fast as well as being well built. In a very incremental way the new 24-70 2.8L is a bit tighter, offers a very slight improvement in flare characteristics, the obvious 4mm extra wide end, which for some can make all the difference (like on a 1D for example with the 1.3x) and a slightly improved closer focusing capability. There is NO glaring reason for anyone to get rid of their 28-70 2.8L's if for only the above mentioned reasons. It will continue to serve those well that own one.........no doubt.......

Ok please tell me how to get into the Canon CPS program. I found the one for Europe, but have not been able to find the one for the states, or are they one and the same?
