What's a good, cheap carrying case for the A610? For some reason I can't seem to find any cases for this model at Amazon.
Thanks.
Edit: Will the Lowepro Z20 work?

I use a Lowepro Z10 to carry my A620 around in. The outer velcro pouch has enough room for a spare set of 4 AA's, and an extra SD card.

Thanks. The Z10 seems to be smaller than the Z20 too (that's good).
What I find odd is that the Z10 is 1.75" deep whereas the A610 and 620 are 1.9" deep.
I suppose that makes for a nice, snug fit?

It does fit pretty snug in there, but its not like you're putting on leather pants or anything. The zipper goes about 2/3rds of the way around the case so it opens wide enough to easily get the camera in and out. That being said however, its def. not going to fit in your jeans pocket.. so the belt strap on the back comes in handy.
I don't have the shoulder strap for mine, bought it used w/o, so I don't know if its any good or junk.

I use a Lowepro D-Res8 for my A610.
The camera fits great, and the case has a pocket internally that will fit 4 AAs and allow the camera to be placed in the pouch & the zip shut without it being a tight fit. There's a belt loop (secured by velcro at the bottom) and two d rings on the back of the case for a neck/shoulder strap (included).
I took some pics of it using my camera phone which are at

Thanks so much for that. Unfortunately, I went ahead and ordered the z10 last night, which I'm hoping I won't regret.

I'm sure you won't - I had a look, and it seems much posher than the D-Res :)

Poshier is always good. =]
Hey, maybe I'll ask another question here about memory cards.
I bought a 1gb sandisk Ultra 2 Secure Digital Memory. Is that compatible with the 610? Is their CompactFlash (no idea what the difference is) better?

Yes it is compatable. The 610/620 takes SD cards only, it does not take compact flash.

I picked up a lowepro Rezo 20 or 30.

Approximately how many minutes of video can the 610 handle at a time?

All right, the camera arrived just now. This manual is quite thick.
Do I need to install the software from the CD?

No you dont need to, unless you are going to make use of the photo-stitch software, then it might be useful. I personally installed the software on the cd, but have never used it (I have a.. liberated, version of PS heh). In terms of organizing photos on your computer, I have heard good things about Google's Picasa: http://picasa.google.com/index.html

Picasa is excellent. It's free, so you've nothing to lose by trying it out - it will find + organise your photos, allow you to make slideshows and gift cds for yourself and friends, and links into many of the well known online photo printers, allowing you to select pictures for upload in picasa and transfer them. It also has some useful, simple fixes and effects (the red eye reduction tool is as good as any piece of paid software I've tried).
