I recently bought a S2 with hope that it would take great pictures of my kids EASILY. I upgraded from a 2 1/2 year old Kodak 6340. My main beef with the old camera is that it didn't react quick enough. I like how much faster the S2 is, but there are enough settings to choke a horse! I thought that there would be a simple macro to capture quick motion, but I must say I haven't found it yet. I've been using some of the more advance modes, mainly P, but I've taken more blurry shots than not. I'm mainly taking them indoors under mixed lighting (flurecent and tungsten). I don't have a great sense of what the proper shutter speed and aperature should be. That's why I want to rely on a macro. Any suggestions on a nice, safe, fast, robust setting?

welcome to the forums...ahhhh.... macro is for close-ups. as in shooting bugs and flowers etc. one of the tricks I used to teach myself was to set my camera on 'auto' and take a shot and then look up the info and see what the camera chose for me. and make adjustments from there.. happy shooting..
Sari.

Maybe I am wrong, but it sounds like you are confusing macro photography (close ups), with macros (like a set of commands on a remote). It sounds like you are just looking for an automatic mode to shoot action shots. Just put the camera on Shutter priority (TV on the dial). Set the number in the viewfinder to something like 1/125 or 1/250 (you will have to try a couple). The camera will choose the aperture. Make sure you compose the shot by pressing the shutter release halfway. Then shoot. With a few minutes of practice, you will be able to do this very quickly.

Hope this helps
Stefan

Yes, I have my terminology mixed up. By macro, I meant one of the pre-canned settings on the dial. Thanks for the correction, and the tips.
