Here's some other shots done 2 weekends ago. After re-looking at them, they don't seem as great as what I recall when I shot them. Decided to share them anyway, as I said I would.
:o

Would somebody be kind enough to help me do what Warren has done to his photo's.

I have Photoshop CS (not CS2).

Thanks in advance

Thanks again for the nice comments.

I don't know if there's anything better to do, sitting at one of the most beautiful beaches around, taking photos, and shooting with a cool girl, like Kirst. :)

The photos are basically untouched, in PS7, except slight sharpening to compensate from resizing down, and a slight bump in saturation to give it a bit of a kick.

If you're asking about the frames, I did those in photoshop quickly by editing the pic, copying image (CTRL A, CTRL C), and then open new file, size of about 30 pixels extra in height and width, and made the background colour same as forum post colour. (eyedropper tool, from a print screen), and pasted image in, and "blending options" to add shadow and bevel/emboss. Then add some text.

Yes it was the frames I was interested in. The pics are fantastic, I am fairly amateur but working hard to improve. The photos on this site certainly spur me on !!

Not a problem mate. The quality of photos shared here, always amazes myself too. I just don't look at my own shots, seeing the same quality.

Love the unusual top lighting on the second gannet!

Mike: Thanks for that, it was backlit, and cropped it that way. I was drawn to the bird and the bright lit up water, balancing the image out.

Kirst: As always ;)

My hat's off to you Warren! Fantastic pics. You should give lessons during a mini-GKPE... then again, it seems you spend more mini-GKPEs with someone ;-)

Definitely none of us blokes will have the charm and beauty of Kirst :) :) :)

Cheers!

I used the Sigma 70-300 for the bird shots. Had it been a couple of weeks later, I would have used the brand new Sigma 120-300. (which blows this lens out of the water)

Lessons always come free, as long as you like to have some fun along the way.

Hey Wazza, did you use any filters or just filter in PS? And do you know your exif or basic settings you used? I'm trying to pull out the true color in sunsets but am still not getting the results I want.

Wazza

No filter was used, and no photoshopping. (no adjustment of colours), just the usual slight usm.

Usually my settings are AV for easy sunsets (with exposure compensation), or Manual for a bit more control, particularly when using the 580EX.
I find the sharpest point on the lens, usually f8-f11 and shoot there, unless I'm needing a longer shutter speed, as I did in one of the pics, and used either F16 or F18, and cloned out a couple of dust spots. ;)

Well let me take a shot???

Look at this the top of the rocks ( http://wazz*****scity.com/20d/maori.jpg )

I may be nuts but I see TWO profile's of someone both different????

You can see the nose, mouth and the chin in both profiles.

That's pretty cool how you can see the faces in those pics. I've noticed that with a lot of NZ coastlines.

Great shots Wazza. :) I had seen your thread earlier but didn't post as many people had done already, and I didn't want to seen as a typical brief "nice shot" post. But then I decided that I would post after all as you deserve to know that your shots have been appreciated. ;)

Thanks mate. Feels great to have so many replies.. I'm one of the ones who can easily praise other peoples' photos, but never happy with my own. To me, anything I take is just average.

Mills: Thanks yet again.
Punakaiki is an awesome place. :)
