I have an S50 that still takes great pics but the lcd is black , i can see the menus and such when I look at it from an angle. The lcd does light up for half a second when turning camera on or cycling thru the menu options but immediately goes black again. I have done the reset to default but still not working. Any suggestions or should i send it in to canon. Does anyone have the phone number for canon service center in canada? Thanks for the help.

I'd send it in for repair. There are multiple service facilities. You may want to try a service locator: http://www.canon.ca/product_reg.asp?lng=en&pr=3&shlink=http%3A%2F%2Fcanoncanada-loc.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/canoncanada_loc.cfg/php/loc/enduser/loc.php?p_locator_view=ConsumerService

You could try fixing it yourself, i fixed the screen on my ixus 700 for a fraction of the normal cost.
