Hi everyone,
i'm looking for a tripod for my canon s80. i want it as compact and light as possible with a maximum height of say 50-60 inches....
is the anything better than the Bogen 714B DIGI Tripod worth considering?
please let me know.
thanks!

The tripod you're looking at seems reasonable, considering that you want to put a light digital compact on it, rather than a DSLR and heavy lens. If you were a DSLR user, I'd suggest considering a 3 section leg tripod for stability, but the S80 is so light that this shouldn't be too much of an issue.
I'd see if you can get your hands on one in a shop; you may find the head is less than ideal and it doesn't appear to be interchangeable. However, you may well find this tripod is all you need.

I'd recommend the gorrila pod which is the most versatile tiny tripod I have ever owned, I got one through ebay and it fits perfectly my S80 and I can hide it in my purse next to my tiny cam ;)

I think the 714B DIGI would be perfect for the s80. I also think they have another, smaller, version - 714SHB? I've played around with the 714B in the store, nice, well built, tripod. Pefect for a point and shoot.

This fellow's experiences led him to a Velbon LUXi-F:
