Hi,
I have been using a 10D with a MT24EX flash for macro photography.
When I view the converted RAW images on my monitor the colors look as correct as I can expect and I am very pleased by the results. I have recently tried to do the same with a 1Ds and the images must first be converted using some other white balance (like daylight or flash) before the colors as viewed on the monitor are even close to real.
The monitor and printer have been calibrated and profiled.
Both cameras are set to capture images in the AWB setting and as far as I can tell all other camera settings are the same.
Shouldn't the AWB images be identical? Is this just an inherant difference between the two cameras , or is the AWB of the 1Ds possibly defective?
Thanks,

Brian

1Ds has a separate WB sensor so in theory it should have more acccurate WB. Are you sure you're not blocking it with fingers? Maybe it's blocked by the ring flash?

One should not expect those cameras to produce _identical_ images or colors. They are different cameras and have different computing systems and software codes.

However,. according to the review of the 10D by Popular Photography;...........

...On the other hand, most other image-quality parameters showed obvious advancement. Color accuracy tests of images captured in both sRGB and Adobe RGB (1998 ) produced surprisingly precise skin tones and realistic, saturated colors. (In fact, as we go to press, the EOS 10D holds the record for color accuracy in any camera, film or digital.)...

This review of course came out After the 1Ds which pre-datesd the 10D by several months...

Thanks for the responses guys!

Pekka...the left flash head for the MT 24-EX flash is right in front of the WB sensor. I missed the obvious there.
Thanks again.
