I'd like a simple leather pouch, the kind that have the drawstrings at the top, for a 70-200 2.8L. The only option from Canon is the soft case, which is a bit more than I'd like. I just need something to put the lens in to offer a bit more padding when it's in my camera bag.
Anyone have any other ideas? It doesn't seem the lens will fit in any of the other Canon pouches, and even some of the third party ones seem to be a bit short.

How about the Thinktank Lens Changer 75 bag/pouch?

does it have to be leather? http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=pagination&A=nextPage&Q=&catId=1&compareCatId=1&shs=lens+pouches&ci=1&ac=&al=&mnp=0.0&mxp=0.0&bl=&sb=ps&sq=desc&fi=all&pn=2
not sure how long the 70-200 is, but one of these might work.

Doesn't have to be leather, seems like some of the nylon pouches I've seen don't offer any padding, they're more for dust protection. The leather ones for the smaller lenses have a bit of padding on the inside.

Optech makes decent neoprene products. nice padding from what I've tested. there are also things called wraps or something like that, which are basically padded material with velcro closures.

good link, I measued my 70-200 2.8 at 8.5" long and 4.5" diameter with a Wimberley plate on the lens foot (about 4" without the AS plate). The Optech units would work well for you. They are a wet suit like neoprene that provides 1/8" of streachable padding. From the B&H link provided I picked out this unit as fitting your needs

And only $18.
