View Full Version : Which bag...

OK I know these htreads are up all the time, but I know what fits in the bags I'm looking at, I'm just looking for others feelings on which of these 2 bags to get:
LowePro Slingshot 200 AW
Crumpler $7 million Home
I have a photo backpack, a TLZ AW (the big one), and a stealth reporter 650. I need a bag that I can easily take my 1 series body, the 70~200, the 12~24 and the 24~70 in it. This is going to be my normal everyday walk around bag. The TLZ can't fit all of these (I have a lens case to do 2 of the 3, but I don't like how that bag acts when you set it down, it's my camping skiing bag). I rarely use the backpack as it's too difficult to get in and out of, and the 650 was purchased to be my "garage" for all my gear so EVERYTHING lives in it and it's not practical to load and unload everything all the time... I'm looking for a bag that I can get in and out of easily and can fit those 3 lenses and my body. I know what they look like and I've seen what they can hold. I'm looking for input from people that have them and what their opinions are after using them.
Thanks,
Ben

Just take some of the heavy stuff out of the 650 and you can put some lightweight lunch in there to take along. That way you don't forget to transfer some of the really necessary small stuff (like an extra CF card). :p

You can put a whole lot more than that in it...

You can put a whole lot more than that in it...I know - I have my whole weightlifting kit in my AW650 (20D plus three HEAVY L zooms) and a lot of small stuff.

I can't comment upon the Crumpler other that to check out

I own the Slingshot 200 along with 2 other much larger bags. What you are asking will fit, but not comfotably. You may be able to cram all three lens a 1D series camera, but the bag will distort and get lumpy and the zippers will be harder to use. When slung to the front it will not open as easily and the single strap design may loose much of its comfort. There are several threads on the slingshot on this forum and others here:

I put pics in this thread of a pro style body and 70-200 f2.8 in a slingshot 200

I have checked out the Tamrak Velocity 9 which is larger than the slingshot 200. But I didn't favor that desin either, its quite hard to get in/out of. But perhaps that would fit your needs?

I've already found all those threads and read through them. That's why I'm asking for people experiences with these 2 bags in particular. I'm leaning towards the crumpler as it has more room, but then again it's very similar to my stealth reporter... but I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
