I was at the Sens game tonight and decided to bring my camera and 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L lens along to try out. I wasn't expecting too much since it's not a terribly fast lens, but I think the shots still turned out okay (dark and yellow-tinted, but still usable with some PP). Especially since we were sitting 2nd level in the away end and I had to shoot through the "mesh" they hang up.

Here's a sample that was taken from across the ice (400mm, f/7.1, ISO 1600, 1/320s). I did some PP on it (auto levels, USM 75% 0.3, 0, resized and cropped). Pretty noisy in parts, but I should get some noise reduction software for that. I'm still happy with how it looks (and I kinda like this composition).

For comparison here's a 100% crop of the original.

And I finally realized what people say when they talk about these big white lenses getting attention! I had the guy next to me comment, and his wife asked if I was a pro. Heh, it was a little flattering. :)
