Well, I bought a Sigma 50-500mm APO EX DG and the 2x Tele Converter, so I had to have a go. To be honest, I'm not majorly happy with the picture because of a few factors - 1) My tripod was too light to take the weight of the EOS 20D with the large lens and teleconverter, hence trying to keep it all still with the wind was difficult - I need a sturdier tripod. 2) The moon was very high in the sky, which made it diffficult to see through the viewfinder without laying on my back, 3) I had to focus manually as the 50-500mm will not AF on the 2x Teleconverter, and 4) My dinner was getting cold.

When the moon is fuller and lower in the sky, I intend to try again, but here's my first ever attempt and photographing the moon...

Darned good first attempt Christopher.

Adobe will help you along. I adjusted the contrast, did a quick partial disc unsharp mask and she popped out a bit.

For your interest, photographing the Full Moon is not the best. When the Sun is hitting the sides of the Moon a lot more craters and Sea areas have higher relief showing more detail. There's quite a bit of stuff available via a Google search on what you can see with each phase of the waxing and waning Moon.

Good shot... now go get yer dinner.

Cuzzin, who is always late for his dinner.
