I have an old Metz 45CL4 dual head flash unit. I've used it with a 311 adapter on my old Eos 10. Is it worth getting the 3102 M3 adapter for my 350d? How many features are compatible with this flash? I gather the E-TTL dosen't work. Should I sell it and replace it with something else?

I got the 3102 M3 to use with my 60CT-4 and my 1Ds and it works great.
It will work fine with your camera but you will have to use the flash in the manual mode (set the f/stop on the flash) and use the Av or M setting on your camera to match it. You will not have TTL or other features but usually all you need is a nice powerful flash. Metz has a couple of very nice E-TTL handle mount flash units that came out this month if you want to upgrade.

Light is light! I'm still using my 30+ year old Vivitar 283s! ;)
Make sure that the sync voltage is compatible with the 350.

I got the 3102 M3 module to work with the 3000C, to use with the Metz 45CL4 which I had been using with my Bronica ETRSi under TTL control. It works find, except for ETTL since the 45CL4 has no preflash capability. It works fine in Auto or M modes. You get flash ready light in viewfinder, but no correct exposure indication; auto flash synch, fill flash control and FEC, 1st and 2nd curtain synch.

I later decided to buy 54MZ4 to the the addition of ETTL support, zoom head control, flash range indication, etc., as well as more power. But the 45CL4 was plenty fine otherwise.

Where can I see and get info on these?
