Rain, wind, and heaps of people -- not a good combination trying to get a few good pics... it was difficult to find ground-based lanterns without people hugging or posing with them:rolleyes:

All shot hand held @ ISO800 - I figured that the tripod would be useless given the wind blowing:confused: Cropped, USMed, saved for web at 60% and that's about it. C&C welcome -- but, be gentle as this is my first official pic post.

Looks like I may be going back tonight with the Kiwi POTN contingent and hope that the conditions are more favourable.

You have done very well. I tried to shoot a balloon show here in Sydney once and was thwarted by the wind and the people. Just a gentle breeze at the wrong moment and the picture is gone...

Those shots you posted are great.

Thanks Kiwibloke! Indeed difficult -- just around 4-5 nice shots out of a hundred or so... Hopefully tonight will be better!

Hi Simon!

Given that it was raining on and off, I'd say there were only half the people so I was able to get a few decent shots. Saturday was not really fun... I actually felt a little claustrophobic ;)

Thanks!!! Lucky for me that the first night had half the crowd of Saturday when I returned with the Kiwi POTN contingent. It was far easier to get a decent pic.
