February 16 - 25 Destination Zero, a band I know, are touring NY. Tour dates and locations here (http://www.myspace.com/destinationzeromusic).
I was curious if anyone in the 'performance arts' section lives in the erea and, if so, would be inclined to take pictures. I know they would appreciate it, so would I, and probabely so would you, because it's quite a performance to see live...

There are people there in NYC but they all got iPods in their ears and didn't hear you.

I hear the iPods are for Country & Western music fad, (a new genre derivitive best described as Rural Rap), because of both the Johnnie Cash and Bareback Mtn movies.

I tried that approach myself, didn't work ;)

There are people in NYC that are members. Maybe you should say something in the thread about POTN activities. The ones that like to meet go there to keep posted on such things. Good luck. If I could get there, I'd take the pictures for you. What are the dates again? I just looked. They are playing at some small venues. Maybe someone can get to one of them?

Hey Rene, I am interested if I have the time. I am a not an experienced concert photographer though but it something that I have always wanted to try out. What would the arrangements be? I have to go offline now, will check back in a few hours.

Details as in locations and dates: follow the link in my 1st post.
Details as in: Do I get on the guest list? I haven't got the faintest idea. I mailed the link to this thread to the band, so lets wait and see...

I have experience but if they don't come to the casino, or at least the Santa Barbara Bowl or UCSB I probably can't make it! I saw this ealier but thought you'd be flooded with responses so I put it out of my mind.

Okay, the band dind't respond to my mail, they probabely were on the way already. I'm guessing it should be possible to get permission to take pictures; the band surely wouldn't mind. The sound guy is a friend of mine; his name is Victor. He knows I posted this thread, so maybe it's possible to arrange things thru him. (Although he will be pretty buisy during the gig)

I was able to get to R&R and get some shots. My wife and I had a great time. I haven't looked at the images yet, but I wouldn't get too excited about the quality. The stage was pretty small and only backlit with 2 lamps and no front lighting. I brought along a flash but didn't use it, and looking back I should have, especially when the band said they wouldn't have minded when we were sharing drinks at the bar.

We had a great time talking with the band members, and encouraged them to go around the corner to Hogs and Heffers (the movie Coyote Ugly is based on this famous NYC landmark).

Their music is pretty good too. My wife even liked it and she normally doesn't go for much outside of popular stuff.

Hey, nice to hear someone took photo's. I'm curious! I can imagine it would be hard if lighting was bad. The singer tends to move around a bit ;)

I will be sending them a DVD of the images, RAW, DNG and the JPGs that were on the web, including the web gallery I posted. The posted images are what I considered the best, but I will be sending the rest since they would probably enjoy seeing them, even if not good technically.

I haven't converted them all to JPG. If they need help with raw or dng would you be able to help them? I could also do a quick convert with just the camera defaults.

What do you think?

I do have DPP and CS2. No experience with DNG however. Also, I don't like to put my interpretation on somebody elses work....

Well, digging up an old thread: DZ did their final gig; the band quit. As a positive side effect: all their music is downloadable for free from their website AFAIK, and a lot of band members go one with other projects, some quite good allready.
Images of their final gig: Take a look in this thread (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?p=2275928#post2275928)
