I've got a Tamrom AF28-200mm (Canon EOS-compat) lens that I use with my Canon EOS Rebel G film SLR.

I am interested in buying a 300D digital Rebel, but before I do, I want to make sure that this aftermarket lens will work and not give the Error 99 message that people frequently get.

Does anyone have an experience matching the two?

Thanks.

Mine does :)

Yesterday was it's first outing (just bought it, 2nd hand - 5 years old).
I've got to do some comparison shots with my cheapie 75-300 Canon non USM but it looks like so far the Canon is sharper :(
But the Tamron looks so cool

It should work just fine. If you have the option, take it with you when you buy the camera and try it for yourself. Any Canon, or Canon compatible ef lens, should work in the 300d.
