My cousin's brother in law formed this band back in 2001 and after trying to make a go of it, touring cutting CD's, they are disbanding to pursue the mundain life of...well non-band life.
This is my first time shooting concert stuff and with this being a small venue and CRAPPY lighting I had set most of my settings at
ISO 1600
AV (as low as my 50mm 1.4 could handle)
SS all over depending where I was at.

They had the two lead singers with NO lighting on them....well not much money and therefore not much equipment and they played in a recording studio therefore the place they played had not equipment.

It was great and they have some great tunes if you want to hear some go to

www.myspace.com/catalogonly (http://www.myspace.com/catalogonly)

worth it to go and hear!
Any CC and pointers would be appreciated!
Lisa

I like the B&W! To make it in the music world is like winning the lottery ... no matter how much talent you have there are three superbowl stadiums full of people just as talented and only one person in the whole lot gets the prize! This is one of the reasons so many of us prefer indie music ... nobody makes millions and millions but a whole lot more folks can make a living ... and they don't have to support bloated paychecks for a bunch of executives who don't do anything constructive ... they just make up "three songs rules" and the like! :-)

Dwight,
What an insight..honestly BC (before children) I went to a crap load of concerts...I think by the time I was 22 I had counted 75 major concerts. But when I went this weekend I didn't even know there was music that was classified 'Indie'.?
I still REALLY don't know what it is all about. But after scoping out the different websites on that <myspace> place...WOW a ton of bands, just in my area trying to make it work. Feel kinda sorry for them, knowing only the smallest of percentage of talent is what I get to hear on the radio.
Thank You again for all your great advice...no more concerts in the near future..but you never know???

I had to go back and "correct" my previous post ... I am busy putting up shelving in my office and my four year old is sick (been puking all afternoon but seems to be better now) but I didn't want to ignore your post so I guess I typed faster than I was thinking.

Drummers are the hardest people in a band to shoot, simply because they're lit the least. You did a nice job on grabbing that one...

I find that drummers are hard because of all the equipment that is right in front of them. And many of the high end talent put their drummer behind plexiglass (a good idea as far as I'm concerned!) making it even more challenging. Anyway, finding a place with a clear shot at the drummer is majorly difficult beyond the problem of bad lighting.
