No not thirty days as you have forgoten the sunset time. There is 30min a night difference in moon rise but only a couple min in the sunset.

Also the weather patterns. March is the start of autum

Well im back.about 200 degrees 22 photos @ 70mm landcape. Tryed a quick stich no good. The moon side was under exposed by about 2 stops shoot in M mode and in raw. Also endup with a LOT of noise so I think it will be at least an experement

Looks like I will have to do this in PS but with only 384 ih RAM ummmm.

Did some other will post soon

Here's my early effort (warning 250K file, 5349 pixels wide) needs the white balance cleaning up and probably a bit of blending but it'll have to do as a sample...
Certainly not as easy as it looks for a challenge!! this is a 9 shot pano @ 42mm

That looks cool Dunc, its a shame you couldn't go the full 360deg and have light at each end match up again.

And a sunset 1.

Dam I have the gear, bright Ideas, the software but seem to lack the skill. Now where did I put those books?

Very good Tony, bet these look great at full size! off to Matt's printer are you?
I had another go at stitching, this time using the RAW files & zero'ing all the figures. What do you think? worth the extra effort? (warning 275K file, 5229 pixels wide)

for those particularly brave souls, a 1.3Mb version (warning 1.4M file 6390 pixels wide)

The other dumb mistake I made was uping the iso thus the moon rise - sunset pick was too graiy (memo to self dont touch ISO leave at 100)

Duncan what were your camera settings for that pano? I took a reading from "P" and then set to "M" I used the moon end.

Nice pics, I like the sun one best, though maybe it doesn't need to be quite so wide.

I worked from the sunset end towards the moonrise, 1/16 @ F10 42mm

How did you determine what settings to use?

Educated guesswork really, started with an apeture (not like me at all!) and worked on getting the "sunset" bit not too blown out. Think the resultant pano looks a little dark though depends on your monitor I suppose. Anyone spot the girl sitting watching the sunset?

"Educated guess work" Well that helps me a lot ;)

I still feel im missing the "eureka" in the understanding of it all. I guess there was many ways of tackling last nights challange and based on your and mine I tackled it from the wrong end.

The point I need to come back to remind my self is its what I learnt that counts.

Tony & Duncan,

Can't believe I missed this for a couple of days... great effort on your parts... nice pics too. When you learn how to get the pictures you want/like, you will need to do a show-and-tell with us ;-)

Cheers!
