Spurs for Jesus are the band that first made me appreciate country. They play fast and dirty with a great sense of humour. Their set is comprised of a mix of covers and originals and pull a very big crowd for a pub band. This was the last night of a 1 month residency. It was a shame that the pub's manager woudln't let them string up a chickenwire barrier in front of the stage as they planned to. It could have made some fun shots!

The lighting was terrible which lead to washed out colours so I converted the raw files to nice contrasty black and whites whcih I think suited the band.

Hey, I've played in front of chicken wire. Yeah, it would've made for some cool shots, but it also would've been an invitation for patrons to start throwing bottles at the stage. It's inevitable!

I really like the second shot. I like the movement of the hand while the singer's head is realatively still...

Stage lighting in small clubs, I think, is the bane of every band photographer. You did a nice job with the conversdion, and they definitely work like this...

Love it, Angus! Must admit I am not familiar with the chicken wire barrier, but if it involves throwing beer bottles as part of the gestalt then I will be content without participating ... my gear is too expensive! :-)

I really like the feeling of these. B&W turned out well.

It's always nice to have a band with a good sense of humor.

Too bad the drummer's using paiste though. (I had some bad experiences with their cymbals)

Second is best, closely followed by the last (which is a bit too light IMO). First one doesn't do it for me.
I think I myself wouldn't mind chickenwire, I wouldn't fancy a beer bottle in the neck though ;)
