Hello;
I have a digital Ixus 40 and have been shooting basketball vid clips which turn out quite good. I now want to put them together in short films of each game and that is where I get stuck. I've tried to do this in 3 pieces of software with no luck so will appreciate any help people here might provide. I work on the mac platform with OSX 10.3.9 and Quicktime Pro 6.5.

iMovie: Won't import the AVI file. Probably needs to be converted to DV first.

Quicktime: AVI files play fine, but when I try to convert to Quicktime file or other format I get the error message: "...this movie does not allow for saving." Quicktime support simply says that the vids need to be "authored for saving" but I cannot find out any more about this or see any preference on the AVI info itself. = stuck.

Canon ImageBrowser: Clips load and play fine. When moving into "movie edit" mode, clips open and play, but cannot add any transitions, effects, save or otherwise do anything to the file – always the the same error: "This task canot be performed because an error has occurred (code = 2126) I've tried anumber of different clips, restarted the computer, etc. all with the same experience. = stuck.

ArcSoft VideoImpression: (came with Canon software) It won't even import (i.e. play) the AVI's from the camera, which was relly surprising. Again, tried several different clips shot at different times. = no go.

Any idea what is going on with these files? I have imported them directly via canon software and a card reader. And I have also just copied them to the computer via the card reader. No difference.

Help would really be appreciated on this.

~Roger

Hi again.
Have been able to answer my own issue so I post it here just in case someone else has similar problems. I deleted Flip4Mac which enables WMV to be played in Quicktime. It somehow created all of the conflicts I noted in the first post. UNinstalled, and presto....everything works as it is supposed too.
