Hi albatross,

Thumbs Plus at http://www.cerious.com has what it calls "TWAIN Multiple Acquire". You can set up your batch with the options you like, e.g. output format, where to put it, how to name it, etc.

Then you can open the Canon G1 TWAIN interface and select the images you want to acquire or to acquire all. Just make sure that your output directory has enough space for the format you're using, e.g. TIFF takes 9MB per image. You can decide to acquire all images with the default "As Shot" settings for W/B, Sharpness, Contrast, and Saturation or you can spend some time setting the RAW Parameters for each picture you want to acquire.

Once you set up a job, you can save this as a "Scheme" for quicker access in the future. The beauty of this method is that Thumbs Plus will save each image to disk as soon as they're acquired. I've had problems doing multiple acquires in PhotoShop - after 10 or so images, you run into memory problems, even with 256 MB of RAM!

I've found, that Breeze Browser (http://www.breezesys.com/BreezeBrowser/) suits the best way to my requirements:

-RAW - > JPEG
-RAW -> TIFF
-RAW -> HTML index
- Histogram
- Custom converting (like ZoomBrowser).
-Very fast

I paid $20 and I didn't regret about it.

The best freeware image viewer/slideshow maker/format convertor etc I've ever seen does batch conversions in a snap.

If you just want to convert a bunch of raw to jpeg with a minimum of post processing zoombrowser or better the FVU utility free from Canon are a good choice.
They mimic the camera adjustements off line and offer a very good conversion quality.

Are you shure that Irfanview conver the raw image or it's just displaying the embeded jpeg?

BreezeBrowser is simple to use and gives you the option of three different conversion algorithms(Liner, Normal, Combined). I've been using it for about 4 weeks and have processed about 600 pictures.
