Please excuse the ignorance, but I came across this fairly lengthy and informative post in another thread http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=46965&highlight=%2A+ai+servo

I am curious as to how most of you have your camera's set. I have a 20D and do mostly outdoor sports Ie. Soccer (football) and I have just started with Boxing. I would be most appreciative if you could lend some of your knowledge.

Cheers
Ray

I don't know if there's much that can be said that hasn't already been said in the thread you mentioned. You have to try it and see if you like it.

I would use the analogy of driving a stick-shift vs. an automatic transmission. The stick-shift requires some experience and acclamation, but it gives you more control. Eventually you learn that you like that control!

I basicly have it in 4/1 all the time but when I am panning motorcycles in av/tv mode I use 4/3 (* for focus no AE lock on the shutter)
