I was going to trash this one. but then I saw with some cropping how I could make it interesting. So this is the final result. What do you think?

Martin.

Well this is a lovely shot. This would look great in B & W. I suspect that the contrast is great. However, I do find a lot of shots from Scotland tend towards the darker browns..

light here is perfect with the sea being just a supporting character here. The wonderful shadow and cracks in the rock formation that juts into the sea gives motion to the image. The sand is kind of a deep color like fudge, and I have never seen this before. But it and the other textures make this iamge a winner. MUch more so than the barks.

PS:
Our house has several brick walls (the color of the sand. The front is stone (same colors as your cracked rocks). We also have a winter scene that carries these olors plus a deep purple and blues like your ocean. IN fact we rotate the color of the front on the basis of these combinations.

I like the colours of the different parts harmonising together!

martin, nice save!
why would you trash a photo? maybe store it in a file with other "miscellaneous photos" to be looked at again? See what can happen after viewing them with a fresh look? Again, nice job!

Hi Tim
The reason I would trash it is because I don't or would never keep every photo I take. I take too many for that. I have to draw a line somewhere and delete the ones that don't do anything for me. This was one that was very average when I first downloaded but thankfully I looked at it again and made something good out of it. Thanks for your kind words.

Martin.

Perhaps you should try to apply a Sepia-effect. Would be very nice I think!

I really like this, but would prefer a square crop if possible.
