Hey, I took an interesting abstract shot this morning, well at least IMO. The lighting, shadows and reflections on the floor is what make this ordinary picture stand out, however I couldn't get it without getting the harsh window lighting on the fridge.

Maybe I'm worrying about it too much but I'd like to see what you guys think first, by the way cloning did a HORRIBLE job, at least I couldn't get a viable result. I just did a b/w conversion...which do you guys perfer as well?

what would you think to cropping it right below the offensive shadow?
You'd lose the receptacle, but keep the register.

I haven't gotten far enough along in my tutorial of PS to offer anything more helpful.

I did try that but I think it totally takes away from the anglar perspective I was going for, and ruins the picture. I know what you mean by Photoshop and Paintshop though, my oh my is there ever a lot to learn and I feel so lost sometimes. I just recently found out about Unsharp Mask. :o

Did you try the dodge/burn tool? That might tone it down a bit.

Yep, didn't do anything. I'm sure someone has a solution though. Then again when it is gone, I might not even like the picture anymore...who knows apparently nobody else is to fond of it...16 views and no replies in the experimental/b&w forum...oh well I suppose beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

Nancy you asked what it looked like if I cropped it. Here is a different angle I shot of it. I still think I like the first one I posted though. What do you think?

I used the clone tool and got rid of the real bright spot, then blurred it, then I selected a spot on the fridge and copied and pasted it, then transformed it bigger to fit the whole area. It's not great, but with some work it might work ok. When you paste it paste it in at about 90%, then flatten.

Hey thanks a bunch, like I said I got frustrated when I tried to clone it out, but you had a different method entirely. I don't think anyone would notice upon glancing at it. You did good, thanks again!

The only things that bothers me about it, is the lack of the handle (which could just be cropped) and the faint line on the left near the round dot on the fridge. But with taking more time to edit it can be fixed.

Yeah, I finally got what you we're talking about blurring it and what not. I think I might take some time and see if I can't get rid of that little dot but include the handle on the next one.

I like what Gardengirl has done with it - tbh, I think that if you didn't know that the handle had been there, you probably wouldn't miss it in the final pic.

I agree with your take on the cropped version Chad, it does seem to lose something - without the right side, the picture seems unbalanced in some way.

Finally! I think I got it about as good as its going to get on this one. Thank you so much for the tip on how to do it gardengirl13! :)

I guess the only thing now that bothers me a little is the harsh shadow on the wall which I'm assuming was put there by something that was laying atop the counter. I'm not going to worry about that too much though, I can always retry the shot of course. I still like how it turned out.
