Well, I have my first wedding booked for March 11th, thank the Lord it is a small one. This is the second for the bride and the first for the groom. Man am I ever nervous. I have my first meeting with them tomorrow night. I want to go over all their expectations and see if I will be able to accomidate their demands. I am not going to charge them too much since it is my first one. However a couple of questions:

#1. Do you think that I need to just give them all the files for the prints or charge for them.

#2. Do I need to tell them if they are not satisfied I will refund their money. This is my first one and even though it is small, I want to make sure they are happy. I live in a small town and word of mouth spreads quickly. So I want to do a good job where they are satisfied. However if I don't think that I can meet their expectations then I have informed them that I will not do it. Because I want their wedding memories to be happy and when they look back at the pictures I want them to be all they expected and more. I hope my thought process is right and I am sorry I have rambled. Any thoughts?

#1 Nope.
#2 Nope - they hired you even though they know you lack experience.

Be as prepared as you can, know your equipment!

I agree.

#1 No
#2 No

You really should try to get hold of (borrow possibly) a backup camera - and any other essentialequipment you only have 1 of. The B&G won't accept any excuses if your equipment fails.

Plenty of fully charged batteries and memory cards for the shoot and a list of possible shots would be handy for when you meet them to discuss their requirements.

Good luck

I tend to disagree with both of you. If (and i know this is a big if) love screws up the photos or a few of the important one and the bride and groom are not satisfied with the image then love should refund the money and let them keep the prints. This people is what we call in the industry "A GUARNATY". First off if you are sell your self to take wedding photos then you should be abel to produce. If you were asked and begged and still told them that there is no promise then that is different. As far as giving them all there prints, that is your choice. It would help you out with getting other customers. What are you going to do with them. Just make sure that you incorperate the cost of development with the price. My clients get everything. I shoot dslr and they get original and enhanced images with a 200 proof album. If they are very nice and give me no hassels the day of I even try to give them a slide show DVD to their wedding music. All these little bonus' and guaranties help build your buisness up. The best way of thinking about ....put yourself in there shoes.....
