Well, I am venturing into something I've yet to do.
I am going to try and sell a package of photos to a school.
I don't know where to begin.
How much do you think I should charge for this set?
Are there any photos I should throw out?
I'm in a rut, heh heh.
Help me!

Did they tell you they wanted this or ask you to do it???

They have contacted me numerous times, but it was always at a very inconvenient time. I happened to have nothing to do, so I walked to the school and shot around a little. My girlfreiend also danced this day at the school, so I was kind of obligated to go.

I know the school is EXTREMELY short on photos this year, well, with poms anyway, that is why the majority of photos are for the poms.

For this ten photo set, what would you charge?

Well, if they need photo's and no one else can or will do it...Looks like you have a little bit of an upper hand.
As far as charging....??? You gotta take in to account the time you spend doing it including post processing, the equipment you use and the skill you have that they are in need of. You also have to realize that they probably have a budget for this sort of thing and you can't "get rich" from a one time thing.

If it was my first time doing this, I would call around locally and try to get some sort of pricing from a studio just to give me an idea. I might even go to the person in charge at the school and ask what they wanted to spend or what type of fee are they willing to pay. For a first time I would use it as a learning experience and then "Stick it to them" the next time!!! (just kidding);)

For this ten photo set, what would you charge?

No idea....Maybe a per picture price of....? $8-10 dollars maybe less?? Depends on how you supply the photo to them to...On disc or as a print?? I really don't know what I would charge without some research....I would take many pics and then let them choose what they want.
Just remember, they approached You!!

Your going to need a larger aperature lens. 50 1.8 is inexpensive.

Agreed, there is a bit too much motion blur in those shots, and while the soft glow effect does hide it to a point, most schools want nice sharp pictures. (I shoot high school events for a living) Basketball is one of those sports where you CAN use a flash, so keep that in mind next time. (IHSAA regulations) Otherwise, let me say, great start, you have an eye for the moment, now just work on the camera settings and a faster lens (a flash wouldn't hurt either, but I realize that we are not all made of money :) )

I like 4 and 6, what does the school want he shots for? If it is for something like a web page or something more informal, I would sell them all, but at a fairly low price, if it is for a formal reason like a program or yearbook, I would sell a few, but keep shooting
