deja vu all over again
what would a 'u' cost anyway?

The extra letter causes the word to cost approximately 20% more than the original word.

Let's see . . . you want to buy a vowel and the site's operating on a shoestring. Chris, we can rename it if you chip in the $250.

It is a common confusion that English is spoken in the US.

I was in Australia in 1988 but had to leave; couldn't speak the language. :(

That will probably happen when people realize that Canon is singular, not plural! I keep seeing people say "Canon are" instead of "Canon is"! It's appalling really and just plain wrong.
I'm American and still like "rumour" for some strange reason. I will spell it "rumor" usually. Sometimes I get the British and American spellings mixed up and don't know why. Using "Rumour" or "Rumor" isn't wrong though as they're both correct in the dictionary. Although I will still use "advertisement" instead of "advert"! And "color" instead of "colour", etc......
I think the English language is fascinating though will all of the variations used throughout the world. I went to Australia on business one time and found that their English had different meanings for some of the words commonly used. It was confusing at times but fun. I didn't like your English way of driving on the "wrong" side of the road though.;)
I just noticed something that will really cause the flaming to start: when I spell check here on POTN, "Rumour" shows as incorrect and "Rumor" as the correct way!!!:lol::lol: I also notice that some of the other "British" spellings say they're incorrect, like "colour"! Must be that the spell checker is more American spellings!

Another weird one is Tire or Tyre?
And while I prefer Rumour, I won't be caught dead spelling Colour.

G'day Mate!
I enjoyed the beer VERY MUCH! Foster's is a great beer for sure! I was only there for a few days but did partake in the local entertainment in Sydney and drank my share of Fosters. My dream is to one day go back to Australia and see a bit more and tip a few more too!:D

Ha! We don't drink Foster's here... we sell it to the world and keep the good stuff for ourselves.
Also - what's with people on these forums who are looking for info on a lense?

Actually, the original word has the "u" already..!

I predict that someday, we will all add worthless letters to words so as to be more pompous. ;)

I totally agree with you - but, once you start on how Americans spell a lot of OUR words, I doubt whether there is space on this forum to cope with them all!
