Ok....I was just reading here and thinking.......if I use AV mode or Tv do I still keep the lens on Manual focus? Gosh, so much to know! I posted a couple pics in the critique section but no response. Anyone here willing to lend an eye, and advise??????
Thanks! You all have been so helpful in the past :-)

Manual vs. Auto-focus is completely independent of exposure metering mode, which is what Av and Tv (and P, and A-DEP, and Portrait, and Green Box, and Sports, and Close-Up, and. . . ) are. Use whichever focus type you prefer.

oh! :-0 So, if my eyes arent so great at accomplishing a sharp focus I can put my lens on AF and use the creative zone for everything else?

Yep. Set lens to AF and Exposure to P and all you'll need to do is push the button and remember to put up the flash when you need it. AF was a primary motivator to get me into digital - my FD stuff did just fine, but my eyes weren't keeping up with the screen.

Woo hoo! I am so glad to have learned this! I have been having a terrible time focusing. Though my vision is terribly bad but, I do wear glasses. That diopter really didn't do much. Thanks sooooo much. I'm going to have to go through ALL these posts to pick up "the little things" that make the huge difference to someone like me just learning. This bit of info was like gold to me! I have been so busy focusing my attention on learning the "big stuff" (which is very important as well) that I was getting lost so to speak because I didn't know enough of the little stuff. This forum is a Godsend. Most of the people are very nice and tolerant of ignorant people such as myself. And them some others I think just don't understand that there are people out there who really are just starting and make them feel stupid for asking a stupid question. Thanks again Jon! You have been a great help
