View Full Version : Duffle-head Attack

The lake has not changed much....ducks, swans, geese and......and them duffle-head duck killers.
The wee ducks have become alarmingly more aggressive since we saw them last. These two shots document a vicious and utterly uprovoked attack on a peaceful goose.
The assault happened with a lethal precision and lightning speed, cowardly from behind the unsuspecting goose, thus it is kind of a miracle these shots came out even the way they are.

Dan....you must be kidding me: dumped the colourmaster for 135L ?
Geez, that was such a good lens you had.....in colour equal or better than any 135L.....although it may have not been sharper though.
The 135L is a damn specialized lens: great for portraits/candids and some architectural details and such.....but not much beyond that. Way too short for birds....way too long for inside and city photography.
I'd blame all this on that bad influence some POTNers are exerting by over-hyping up some lenses.......folks like Smoeltzel who do not seem to need much beyond portrait lenses.

Well, what can I say. It's done, I guess.
The 135L is one of the sharpest knives in Canon's drawer.
The important thing is that you are happy with it and that your back is OK.
As they say in Ukraine, all is "dobre" that ends "dobre".:D

   it's like being attacked by an understuffed Teddy Bear Capt. Pet-KaL.
I see you have Hoodies over there too. We have a regular media frenzy about 'da youth' who walk around in hooded tops apparently terrorizing one and all. Nothing of the scale of outrage you clearly experience with your own Hoodies on your local puddle tho'.
I think you need a nice carbon fibre monopod sir. Attach gear to a decent ballhead and sling over shoulder: easy to carry and then shake free shooting with minimal effort. Feisol are excellent. Super light weight and nice pricing. I also recommend my own ballhead. Probably too good a price/performance ratio for you tho' so maybe check out something just as good but costing three times the price :p

Thanx guys, levity aside, the buffle/duffle heads seem to have become more boisterous....perhaps it's that spring fever.:D

Thanx gents, the geese have an advantage in numbers. However, although the buffleheads are small, their killer instinct + the insanity factor makes them very dangerous.;)
