IR Remote with PDA ?

does anyone know of a software for PDAs (Zaurus, Palm) which can control via the IR Port the G3, lets say interval shooting

It is designed to replace many types of remotes. Basically you tell your Pilot what function you are programming, hit the button on your remote while pointed at the Palm, and voila! I tried the product out a while ago and it worked pretty well. The range is going to vary tremendously with the capabilities of your handheld, though.
