OK, since I now know I will be using 1x17 paper for my 11x14 images, I have another question for everyone.

What type of cutting tool do you use to trim your paper? I know there are the

butcher style cutters the rolling cutters, exacto knives, etc. What do you find produces the cleanest cut?

Thanks

I have a work table set up with large quilting board attached, with a T-square. Use both an X-acto Mat knife and rolling cutter. Both give a clean cut. The rolling cutter is easier to use, but on some harder papers requires several passes. Use the X-acto on those.

Since I mat my photos before framing, I whack the borders off with a utility knife. The edges don't have to be straight or square if it's behind a nice beveled mat opening.

For a "clean cut", you need to keep whatever it is you're using sharp. I use the X-acto method, and replace tha blades when it "drags" or doesn't cut through without a bit of pressure.
