View Full Version : ZoomBrowser - NO thumbnails...

Hey all,

I'm wondering if anyone can advise here. I recently purchased an A70 Powershot, fantastic camera! But I've run into trouble trying to get my pictures off the camera and into my PC.

I'm running Win98SE. I installed all of the software/drivers that came on the CD bundled with the camera. I installed the software first, then connected the camera (exactly as it said in the user manual). Everything appears to work, at first, the ZoomBrowser software launches when the camera is connected and switched on but NO thumbnails appear. I might be stating the obvious but, yes, there are pictures on the memory card in the camera :) (And the camera has new batteries - so now power worries).

I've not been able to find reference to a problem like this anywhere on the net. Further investigation turned up the following: When trying to access the images in the camera using the TWAIN driver in Photoshop I get a window that fills with thumbnails - but they ALL have a 'question mark' image in them :(

I finally decided to try a complete uninstall/reinstall but still no luck. I'm using ZoomBrowser EX 4.1

Thanks for any advice/hints/solutions,

Si.

Just something to add,

I tried to download the images from my camera with BreezeSys' Downloader 1.5 & BreezeBrowser 2.7 - neither of these could find my camera on a USB port. They reported that nothing was attached :(

So it seems like most of the software I've tried can't find my camera. Yet Windows says that there IS a camera attached. It's listed in Device Manager, it's listed in Control Panel->Scanners and Cameras and when I perform a 'Test Camera or Scanner...' it reports that everything is fine!

This seems like some sort of driver/conflict - but I'm not sure - please if anyone can help give me some advice :) Many thanks again, Si.

Here's a few thing to try:

1. Click START, then click RUN, and type in the word stimon, then OK

2. Click START, then RUN, and type inf, then OK

3. Open the OTHER folder, double-click on each item that starts with Canon.Inc. A text file will open each time. If the text file says Canon Digital Camera Setup File (or something like it), close the text window and delete the corresponding file.

4. Click START, then RUN, and type twain_32, then OK

5. Delete the folder that corresponds to your camera (ie. PS_A70_U or somethig)

2. Remove the camera from device manager, then click Refresh in device manager.

I hope this works!

Hi Johnny,

Thanks very much for your suggestions, alas nothing worked :( There definately seems to be some compatibility issues with my particular machine/setup and the cameras software/drivers. Looks like I'll have to get a usb card reader (thankfully they're cheap!).
