Well, I found myself another job which will be paying better, so by the end of the summer I hope to have filled my MiniTrekker with the following gear:
Canon EOS 20D
Sigma 24-70 f/2.8
Sandisk Extreme III 2.0GB
Total kit comes to about 2 grand (hopefully BH drops the price of the 20D's)
Now my question, A) Any comments B) Will I experence any warrenty problems buyign the following gear from BH and bringing it into Canada?
Thanks
-Andrew
P.S: The other option I can excersize is the 100-400 L IS only.

I am pretty sure Canon Canada warranties products bought in the USA, but you might want to call them and double check.
I'd also advise you to choose UPS Express as the shipping method, that way there are no extra brokerage charges to pay. You will only have to pay the taxes on the item when it is delivered.

Any camera purchased in NA will be honored in Canada or USA for the warranty.

You mean expedited? Yea, and I'm starting to lean to the 100-400 L

I think both USP Express & Expedited both include the brokerage charges.

I've used B+H and shipped UPS express to include the brokerage, and it is very well worth it. Quick customs with no extra fees, just taxes.
No warranty issues.
good luck with the shopping.

I am not sure about Sigma. The last Sigma EX lens I bought had a 7 year warranty from the Sigma distributor. I doubt that they would extend the same warranty on products not distributed by them. I believe Sigma has a two year warranty and they may be willing to honor that.
While I often buy Canon, Sandisk and other products from B&H, I try to find a Canadian supplier for Sigma lenses. I have had to ship enough of them back to the distributor to be rechipped or repaired that I don't want to take any chances on warranty. Incidentaly they have been very good on my Canadian sourced lenses. You do pay a bit of a premium to shop in Canada though. For example the Sigma 50-500 is $1,430 CAD at thecamerastore.com in Calgary and $970 USD at B&H. Being in Calagary, the CameraStore.com does not charge provincial sales tax, so you save a bit if you live in other provinces, but that does not make up the total price difference.

Sounds like a good setup to me! My first lens was similar focal range (Tamron 28-75) and I had a great time learning the camera with it. Good luck and have fun!
Btw I'm going to be working out in Calgary in a weeks time....is it still -30 out there?!?

I just got the 20D for after Christmas and the 24-70L last week. I took out the two Thursday at the school for some celebration shots. I was really pleased with the sharpness of the lens and I did NOT use any flash in the building. I find that distracting for the children. If I didn't have my 24-70L, I would have used my 28-135IS, which is good with a flash, but not nearly as good without. The shots were very good, much better than I could have imagined and I actually set it to have a lot more bokeh than you'd think. I wanted to catch the one child in the crowd and it worked beautifully. I was warned that the 24-70L gives too much bokeh sometimes, but for that shoot, it was perfect. Great choices. Hope you can actually get it for under $2000, my two were more like $3000.

From B&H to Alberta UPS Expedited is the proper choice. The only thing UPS will need you to pay is the GST. All brokerage fees are included in the up-front shipping price from B&H.
For Canon equipment sold in North America it is a Canada/USA warranty, not a USA only warranty. Be careful with other non-Canon equipment though, some may only come with a USA only one.
