Although my 60mm has become my primary portrait lens, the faithful 85mm always delivers...even in relatively poor lighting.

I tried this lens out again in hope that my feelings about it would change and I'd keep it in my camera bag...the shots speak for themselves. Sharp, well focused and a keeper as far as I'm concerned. I may not like the minimal focus distance but it does provide great IQ.

1.) Testing it out on the streets.

2.) Testing it out on the couch, at night, with only one lamp lit. Please excuse the dog hair. Wallace sheds so bad. Haha

I really liked this on my 40D but now for some really odd reason, I find the focal length too LONG on a FF if anything, oddly. Think I'll sell for a 50 1.4 or 135

EXIF says that the aperture for your shot was f1.2. Were you using the 85 1.2L? This is a picture thread for the 85 1.8. This only caught my attention because that looks like a background blurring effect that only the 85 1.2L can produce.

Approximatley 1.6x narrower than a full frame camera.
Set your 55-250 at 85mm and see for your self.

Its weird, I loved this lens on a crop body but on a 5D the focal length just bores me. Its a step further forward than I regularly see and I just can't get into it.

I think you can do better than that. I got mine for close to $300 new, from Adorama off ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Canon-EF-85mm-F-1-8-USM-Lens-usa-rebel-xsi-t1i-50d_W0QQitemZ110498606696QQcmdZViewItemQQptZCamera _Lenses?hash=item19ba3aee68
Beach Camera (another good seller). It is $380, true. With cash back it'll come back out to $350. And you get warranty. Buy with Amex or other card that offers it, and you have a two year warranty. Buy knockoff hood.

Yeah, I actually decided to buy new from B&H, just because I am still wary of buying a used lens. It should arrive Tuesday!
I also got a UV filter and lens hood, 2-day air, comes to $435.00, not bad.
