Why would you want to be amongst the first? You're pretty much bound to pay RRP, especially until supply is plentiful, and you get the early adopter bugs too (just look at the firmware release notes for the first couple of versions of many Canon DSLRs to see what I mean).

If I was interested in the 30D (and I'm not - I have a 20D, I planned on skipping this generation even before I knew how small the differences were) I'd be looking to wait a couple of months after release.
