This is my first attempt at this. The conditions were to say the least less than favorable but I tried and this was about the best shot I could get. It was dark outside and these little lady bugs have apparently just hatched or whatever they do and they were on the wall. Shot with an S2Is on the macro setting. I know it's kind of washed out and the black and white was done by accident. I still have a lot to learn about the camera as you can tell :). C & C appreciated.

It's fun though! How small are they?

The best critic, I have been told, is oneself. Knowing this, you have won...and I'm sure the next picture will be great.:)

Good attempt...can understand the emotions of what you felt and wanted to portray.

Don't be disheartened, it's not bad at all. I don't mind that it's monochrome, although colour would have been better, especially for ladybugs, since they are so colourful. You're suffering from the same problem as I am though - picture isn't pin sharp. The composition and subject matter are very good :) Keep plugging away, keep posting your macro shots, it's all fun. Everyone here is pretty nice and helpful, so you're in good hands.

Thanks for all of the comments and tips. I have done a couple of more this afternoon in the day light. Please let me know what you think. I don't think they are as sharp as they could be. Not too sure what I am not doing but I'll keep working on it. Someone asked how big they are; well the whole bunch of them together was about the size of my index finger-nail. Thanks for looking and C&C are greatly appreciated.

And so you can see how small they are :)

Colour is definitely better than the monochrome, well done! The 1st colour shot is very good, nice and sharp, the 2nd colour shot is slightly out of focus, but still very well done, they are very tiny.

I was the one that asked how small they are and I am glad I did. I had no idea they would be so tiny!

You have done really well considering the magnification. The first is very good then the focus goes off a bit. The more light you can get the better the depth of focus will be.
