I sincerely apologize if this has been asked before, I tried using the search function with some different search terms, and came up with nothing.

The icons on my mode dial (the dial that selects between Auto, Manual, Portrait, Night, etc) on my Canon S50 have completely worn off. They were partially worn when I bought the camera from a friend, and I had it in my pocket one night and after that I noticed they had completely worn off.

It's not a huge problem since the mode is displayed on the screen as well as on the dial, but it makes selecting different modes sort of a pain, since I the mode dial is completely blank now.

Is this a common problem? I've searched google for a place to buy a sticker or something to put on there, to no avail. Is there a place where I can buy a sticker? Or anything I can do to easily rectify that problem?

By the way I just got the S50 late last summer - I'm *very* happy with it, takes beautiful pictures. I'm new at photography (don't plan on getting too into it). I might as well show a few pictures that I thought came out well, since this is my first post and a new camera for me:

Just a picture I took of a dying sunflower in my yard early in the fall of last year.

A local bar decorated for Haloween last October.

Anyway, thanks for any information anybody can give me on this subject.

Thanks!

Brett

I remember a thread about this sometime ago, people commented that the markings would easily wear off.

You might be able to get a replacement from Canon, but I would just get a sharp needle and mark the important modes on the dail. Auto, P, Tv, Av, M and Movie :)

or even use very thin strips of different colored tape. I've used this on my oven knobs which have the same problem.

Can't help with the mode dial problem, but wanted to comlement you on your pictures :)

Do you do much with them in the way of post processing? I reckon desaturating the background slightly on your sunflower pic would give it a lot more impact.
