Here's a review along with sample pics of the Leica Summicron-R 35mm f/2 I recently acquired. The plan is to add more photos to the thread as time goes on. I'd be keeping this lens for at least a year, so I'm sure more photos will come:

If at some point people post some images from that lens in that thread as opposed to all the other lenses that got posted ....
(with the exception of the first post of course! )
...well then we can remove the OT stuff, but for now it doesn't seem to be taking off :(

No. It is only available in ZoomBrowser, which is software that came with your camera, and I believe Breeze Browser will do it also.

There have been a few PMs and posts regarding prices being inaccurate. As I am sure most of you can understand there is no way I can police the pricing of these lenses. So if you see a price that is incorrect, remembering that they are only estimates in US dollars, send me a PM with the correct price and the lens for which the price is incorrect. I will then do my best to update the price. But I will not, I repeat, will not search the net for every lens here on the list every so often to keep it updated.

I did it! I pulled the trigger on a Tamron 28-300 vc lens. I tried on on the camera at a local store and really liked the feel of the lens. I have read that the zoom can get a little loose and creep, but this (Admitidly brand new) felt really nice. The lens is scheduled for delivery (BuyDig.com - $537) tomorrow. I will post some pictures as soon as I can.

I can understand that, I am looking for this to be my "outside" walk around lens. Inside, I use the Sigma 17-70 with good results. I had a Sigma 70-300 APO that, when I bought it, I thought would be much more useful. It was a pretty good lens, but not for my uses. It was most useful on a tripod. I am hoping the Tamron will be good for my needs hand held.

Not sure about in Photoshop, but in Canon Zoombrowser you can view the AutoFocus Points that the camera used when it took a photo (AF mode of course, not MF). You will need the latest version (or pretty recent) of Zoombrowser to be able to see them. Upgrades are free if you have the software with your Canon camera already, so if your current version does not show the Focus Points, go to the Canon website download section and get updated..
I hope that helps answer your question.

I have a small contribution in reply to a "barbed wire" shot posted by goatee (on page one of this thread) which I had not seen due to my excitement of going through all the different lens threads lol.
I will just post a small version for a comparison. The shot was taken using manual focus @55mm. f/5.6. 1/320sec. ISO-100. (using my kit 18-55mm IS lens)
Thanks again,
Kindest regards,

Canon 50mm f/1.8
Canon 24-70 mm f2.8 EF L USM
Canon 70-200 mm f4 EF L IS USM
The idea is to cover all the posible ranges by the use of these three lenses.. all posible suggestion are usefull... thanks

I assume you'll keep the 18-55? Alternative to the 24-70L would be the 24-105L depending on whether you need the f/2.8 or not. It's also a fair bit lighter too. And if you have a little bit extra, go for the 50 f/1.4 USM instead of the f/1.8.

First! Thanks for Moderating and Maintaining this Section of POTN!
This single thread is possibly the most valuable Canon Resource I have ever ever encountered. Personally, I blend the things I see from 'all' the posts a particular lens has to get a sense of how a particular lens 'feels' as an image maker.
Second! I am wondering about a List or Link being dedicated to 'Manual Focus Lenses Used Via Mount Adapters'?
I currently use a nice Zeiss Pancolar M42 lens and would love to share the successful images I have from it and most definitely see and learn about other people's imaging success with various lenses.
Any info instructions FAQ's you can point me to to start up a thread like like that would be very appreciated.

Richard
Thanks for the compliments Richard.
I am not aware of any list or threads dedicated to manual focus lenses. But I do know that there are many here that share your enthusiasm about the various and wonderful glass that exists. My recommendation to you is to start a thread here asking solely for images created using manual lenses with adapters. Ask posters to include the camera and lens combo as well as any EXIF details they have. Then let me know about the thread and I will add it to this main list under the "other" heading in post #3 of this thread.
Good luck!

Thanks!
I'll see what I can get rolling with my own images and I've got some posts interacting with some other users here on potn.
I'm still nervous about getting the pictures from a hoster up here on POTN successfully! Time To Get Over IT!

Mike,
Here is a thread dedicated to the Vivitar 85/1.4 Aspherical:
http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=650972
The initial samples I placed in are from my Nikon body, but as soon as a Canon shooter gets one (a couple of people have them on order, or so it seems), the samples should start flowing.

Moved to the archive.
I hate to be picky but would it be possible to list the thread as EF 35-80 f/4-5.6 inc USM or something like that because I wanted the thread to cover all versions and indeed my own personal copy is not a USM version!
I'm currently working my way through the cheapy EF lenses so there should be a few more posts for the archive soon!

Sure! I removed the USM from the link on the first page. The thread title shows all models. Is that OK? :)

From the first post:
There have been a few PMs and posts regarding prices being inaccurate. As I am sure most of you can understand there is no way I can police the pricing of these lenses. So if you see a price that is incorrect, remembering that they are only estimates in US dollars, send me a PM with the correct price and the lens for which the price is incorrect. I will then do my best to update the price. But I will not, I repeat, will not search the net for every lens here on the list every so often to keep it updated.

Hi, Mike. Thanks for this INVALUABLE resource--you're The Man!
Anyway, I just received shipment on a Zeiss Distagon T* 2/28mm ZE. I think I might be the only one who owns this lens. I've just taken it out of the box a few minutes ago and will take a few test shots later today. Don't know if it will be worth it for one owner, so I may post in the Distagon T* 2/35 ZE samples thread first since it's almost the same tube, and we'll go from there. -- Pete
