We attended a celebrity golf tournament sponsored by Barbara Sinatra, Frank's widow. It's a fund-raiser for a charity she sponsors.

Part of the festivities was a silent auction. There were literally hundreds of items that had been donated by local businesses and various celebrities. Among all the things there that normal people might like to bid on and own, there was one standout treasure that I simply had to have. It is a beautifully framed print, autographed by the fine gentleman whose image it contains.

I now own it, and shall immediately undertake to redecorate the entire house around this newly purchased treasure as the focal point of interest......

Very nice! Congratulations. You're right- the world is not likely to see their kind ever again.
One suggestion: if you require any demolition during you house redecorating- use a truck to remove any free standing structures. And get a of punching bag (so you can use it when the photography gets frustrating).

Snagged a good one Tom. :)
I'm an American Chopper addict. Mikey cracks me up.

I wonder what kind of bike they would build if commissioned by Canon. A red ring around the headlight?

Cheers

Cool! I love the series. You must have spent the equivalent for a decent lens for that... but it could be worth it in the long run ;-)

Thanks, everyone.

I actually love the series, too. Of course, I was a big fan of the Osbournes, too, so maybe I'm a little strange that way.

Without being too analytical, I think it has something to do with the ultimately positive message of a seemingly dysfunctional family being able to churn out extraordinary product despite all the histrionics. As with so many things, I believe the early shows were more genuine. The newer shows are a bit more contrived, obviously pandering much more to the camera than they did in the early going.

Giving Mikey a more prominent role was pure genius. The guy is hilarious, and has even contributed to making my wife a fan of the show. Actually, she’s the one who insisted on buying the picture. (she will also be the first to suggest we get rid of it at our next garage sale)

Of course, there's the hardware they produce on the series. Although I'm not particularly a chopper fan, it is amazing watching the design/build process of one-off works of art like those they build.

And no, it wasn’t all that expensive. I think we might have gotten a deal on it because the socialites who hang around the Indian Wells Tennis Gardens (where the auction was held) are not the sorts of individuals who are likely to be big fans of outlaw bikers. They’re really more the tea and finger sandwich type of crowd.

I am not into choppers but I do find that series funny and hilarious and watch it sometimes. And I am amazed that they ever get any bikes finished on time.

Tom: Yes, I am pretty sure the earth shifted on its axis. :) I also watch that series and as the picture was loading (slow) I just saw the names you had in your post and knew EXACTLY who it was. Love the series. I also watch Overhaulin'. Love Chip Foose!

Apparently the show hasn't found it's way to your part of the world, although Tommy has seen it in Denmark.

Well, you're missing something special.:rolleyes::p

I probably shouldn't admit this in public, but when the photo loaded, I thought you'd been had.

Didn't even know the show existed and never heard of them.

You gotta work harder to impress me, Tom. :):):)

Paul has a way to go before he completely masters the 'Belmondo look.' Puny arms are in. Big, muscular arms are out.
