Vivitar Telephoto 500mm f/8.0 Mirror (reflex) Manual Focus lens for Canon EOS.
Is it considerable?? $109.95
Vivitar, I have heard of it.

Pretty much total junk...I chalk mine up to experience. The focus is just about impossible to achieve. Even on a rock solid tripod with mirror lock and sandbags to control shutter shake, I couldn't get a shot as good as a handheld snap with a 75-300mm IS.

LOL
He is right though-that model lens is pretty much useless.I've used several of them and can simply not tollerate the results they give- and i'm the stingy type !;);)
I do have good news for you though -these lenses(link below) while cheap, give results far above their price.I highly recommend you get one if you are on a budget.
Note*.If you search ebay you'll no doubt see a similar model by Opteka. It is slightly different and no one seems to know anything about it.I have one currently and the results so far are not quite as good as the pheonix brand (but very close).I need to do more testing.
For now i recommend you buy the type linked below.I'll try to post some example shots from these lenses

Here's a thread from the past discussing the vivitar.I've posted comparison shots between a cheap mirror lens(identical to the vivitar) and a preset lens as linked above
